The Flying Snyders
By Bobby Lewis

Illinois riders fared well tonight as indoor action returned to Sturgis, KY. The father/son combo of Kevin and Kyle Snyder had it dialed in as they rode to convincing wins.

Kyle hole-shot the 200cc Pro-Am short track and immediately built a small gap over Hayden Gillim and Jeff Carver. Carver worked into second and began to close but Snyder stayed on the slippery groove to take the win with Carver second and Hayden third. Erhardt Heisner led a pack for fourth in front of Frankie Lee Gillim, Michael Heiden, Jonathan Heiden and Justin Jenkel.

The TT final found Snyder back up in front with Carver looking for a mistake that never happened as Snyder took the narrow win over Carver. Hayden who was in the battle also killed the engine on the last lap allowing Dakota Simmons to move to third over Jonathan and Frankie Lee.

Kevin Snyder's turn came in the Vet 30+ classes and he topped the TT final with ease with a run over Scoff Larm and Chris Grissom. A hole-shot in the ten rider Vet class short track was the ticket as he held off Pete Sheppard by a bike length to take the win. John Faulkner was a close third over Dean Faulkner, 70 Singles winner Bill Gruwell and Gene Yopp.

Kevin gated in third place in the Open Pro-Am short track and saw a serious battle for the lead as Nicky Hayden looked for a line around leader Aaron Ladd. Ladd held tough as the laps wound down and a red flag with two laps left found the race called complete with the top three set. Justin Hanna jockeyed into fourth past Rob Lampkin and Stevie Nace.

Illinois rider Ladd resumed the point as the Open Pro final got underway with Hayden on his heels. Hayden's near high-side allowed Dean Faulkner and John Faulkner to slip into second and third. Ladd increased his lead en route to the win and the top four remained the same. Gruwell would fill the top five over Jordan Jenkel and Eldred Bristol.

Hayden overcame poor starts to go to the lead in the Open Pro and Pro-Am TT's and carried them to large wins.

Ladd would return one more time in the Maddog short track and rode away to the win over Stevie Nace while Jeff Jones grabbed third place from Stock class winner Jon Goodwin and Dakota Simmons.

Justin Jenkel pulled the lead off turn two and never looked back pulling a small lead into a win in the 85cc class. Jeff Carver followed him into second past Hayden and Frankie Lee while Jonathan Heiden held off Michael Heiden, Jake Lewis and Colby Chandler for fifth.

Carver then went on a run winning the 85cc TT after a race long bout with Hayden and then sweeping the 200cc Amateur divisions.

Jacob Morris and Nick McFadden swapped the lead and wins in the 50cc classes while Jake Lewis rolled the 65cc division.

April Ladd had double wins on the TT and close seconds to Nikki Spore, the Women's class winner, and Jon Goodwin in the Stock XR100 class.

Carter was the master of the Open Pro and Pro-Am TT's. Carter hole-shot both main events and rode a smooth line to win in each with King a close second each time. Ladd would hold off Cheza and Kyle Meiers for third In the Pro ranks while Justin Hanna slid past Nace for third in the Pro-Am Class. Tyler Porter would wind up fifth over Cheza, Dan Reichert and Schwarzenbacher.
