Adams Family Affair
By Bobby Lewis

The Kentucky Dirt Track Series rolled into Smithland tonight and started on a narrow one line groove that was washed away after a brief storm passed through. Steve Nace and crew worked the surface into a tacky surface that allowed for an extremely fast surface.

Colby and Weston Adams found the track to suit their style as they rode to class wins in their respective classes. Colby took control from the start of the 65cc class in both the short track and TT and rode to wins by a straightaway in each. Nathaniel Vowell was the runner-up each time with Macy Moran finishing third.

Weston pulled hole-shots in each 85cc main and disappeared for the wins. Nicky Spore and Cody Brown ran wheel to wheel for second with Brown gaining the spot on the oval and Spore in the TT.

Weston was back again in the 200cc Pro-Am TT but was no match for Dakota Simmons and had to hold off Patrick Pyle for second.

Simmons scored four class wins on the night with his best ride coming in the Mad Dog TT. He went to the front and crept away for the win while Aaron Ladd and Stevie Nace traded paint for second. Ladd earned the spot at the flag.

Ladd was perfect the rest of the night and rolled to another win in the Open Pro class. Kyle Kelly hounded Dean Faulkner early before finding an opening to finish second.

Faulkner would try hard for the win in the Vet class but came up half a wheel short to winner Gene Yopp. Ed Clark filled the rostrum.

Dennis Porter held off a determined Yopp to earn the Senior class win. Clark came from a bad start to close on the leaders but had to settle for third over David Brown and Don Duncan.

Brock Moran doubled up on the Stock XR1OO Class while Matt Paterson earned the 200cc Amateur class win.

Luke Baird was on fire in the 50cc shaft short track as he rode to a convincing win nearly lapping the field. Dylan Douglas slipped past Jacob Morris late in the race to finish second. Morris rebounded to take the win in the TT over Baird and Douglas.
