Vowell Tastes Victory
By Bobby Lewis

Nathaniel Vowell used hole-shots and sharp riding to claim wins in five classes tonight in Smithland. Vowell swept the Open Amateur class in both the short track and TT and held off Jake Lewis to win both the 200cc Amateur and Pro-Am TT’s.

Vowell’s fifth win on the evening came in the 200 Pro-Am short track where he gated in second and held off Nikki Spore for the win after early leader Lewis slid out of contention.

Lewis came back to top Evan Fields and Bryan Williams in the 65cc ranks and also top the 85cc classes.

Lewis went to the front of the stock XR100 short track main and held off a strong late race challenge by April Ladd to take the close win. Dean Faulkner came through the pack for third to nab the spot over Jesse Hodge, Dillon Atkins, Alan Asher and Wendy Maccoll.

Hodge came back to take the TT win by a wheel over Lewis, Atkins and Maccoll.

Aaron Ladd outpaced the Open Pro and Pro-Am’s by nailing hole-shots and sliding away to win each time out. Jason Goodwin and Jeremy Anderson had heated battles in each to claim the 2-3 spots. Stevie Nace filed into fourth holding off Faulkner, Bill Gruwell and Kyle Naliborski.

Gruwell would top the Vet short track by taking the lead and holding back Faulkner at the line. Kelly Klynstra was a solid third over Randy Taylor.

Skeeter Williams was on a rail as he held back Klynstra for the Senior win. Curt Corner was in the hunt for third over Taylor and Marty Allison.

Klynstra swept both the Vet and Senior TT’s having to work hard to hold off Corner in the Senior division.
