Hayden’s Haulin’
By Bobby Lewis

Hayden Gillim put in strong rides tonight to take the most class wins in Smithland’s short track/TT program. He worked past Ethan Gillim in the 65cc short track to ease away to the win over Ethan, Jake Lewis, Levi Mayer and Evan Fields.

Hayden went to the front of the TT also with Lewis, Ethan, Mayer and Fields in order.

Ethan would return to sweep the 50cc chain classes over Jacob Morris, Dylan Douglas and Luke Baird.

Morris and Baird split the honors in the 50cc shaft class with Baird on top of the TT.

Hayden returned in the 85cc ranks and pulled hole shots in both the short track and TT. He rode perfect laps in holding off brother Frankie Lee Gillim for the win each time. Colby Chandler filled the podium each time in third.

Hayden then went to work in the 200cc Amateur TT and carded another win. One more hole shot turned into a win as he ripped up the 200cc Pro-Am short track holding off a determined Jonathan Heiden.

Chandler got the start he needed to take a win in the 200cc Amateur short track over Hayden, Lewis, Nathaniel Vowell, Mike Heiden and Mike Stanfield. Chandler then backed it up with a wire to wire dash in the Pro-Am TT.

250cc Pro winner Dakota Simmons followed him close for second while Vowell, Jonathan Heiden and Hayden rounded out the top five.

Aaron Ladd and Billy Gruwell went at it tooth and nail in the Open Pro and Pro-Am classes with Ladd taking a close victory in each.

Vet class winner Dean Faulkner led Jeremy Anderson and Tyler Porter across for third in the Pro ranks.

Gene Yopp, Dallas Mayer and Ed Clark argued over the point in the Senior class with the order the same at the checkers. Clyde Modlin and Steve Parrish filled the top five.

April Ladd continued her string of Stock XR-100 wins with Stevie Nace doing likewise in the Mad dog class.
