Sassaman Sails on the TT

Paducah, KY April 21
One hundred three riders took to the TT circuit tonight and found a perfectly groomed track that allowed for multiple lines and great racing. Payton Sassaman had the track dialed as he wrapped up two wins on the night. His first came in the 250cc mod 4-stroke class as he left heat race winner Adam Cobb to chase him down for second. Colby Chandler and Dakota Simmons had a race long dice with Chandler getting the number three spot over Simmons and Levi Mayer. Steve Vanderkuur was next in line over Corton Vandezande, Ian Steen and Eric Iddings. The 450cc mod class also belonged to Sassaman as he took control of a re-started race and held off D. J. Slusser for the win. Jeff Carver worked into third past Chandler, Simmons and Jed Dunham. Nathaniel Vowell was next over Brandon Robinson, Jacob White and Derek Weber. Sassaman gated second to Carver in the 250cc DTX final and tried to stuff his way to the front but Carver did not budge as he rode to a convincing win with Sassaman out of the race. Frankie Lee Gillim held firm for second holding off Cobb for third. Ethan Gillim continued to dominate the 65DTX class with Nick McFadden the only rider to keep him in check. Ryan Rutland came through the field to finish third over Luke Baird, Logan Demaa, Robert Hall and Tyler Tudor. Jake Lewis ran away with the 65cc mod class and then battled with Hayden Gillim in the 85cc divisions. Gillim made a last lap pass to top the 9-13 age groug over Lewis, Jacob Cunningham and Evan Fields. The 7-11 mod group saw Lewis pull the hold shot and hold it to the checkers over Hayden and Ethan Gillim. Fields would ride to fourth over McFadden, Demaa, Rutland and Austin Conant. Brock Schwarzenbacher took the point of the Pro-Sport final but could not shake Justin Hanna who sat in the second. At the halfway flags Hannah used a deep outside run into the infield to go to the front and never bobbled in taking the close win over Schwarzenbacher. Cody Reifsnider held off Brett Sassaman for third with Kyle Snyder rounding out the top five. Schwarzenbacher rebounded to take the Open-Pro win as Hanna was a solid runner-up.
