Fast Frankie
By Bobby Lewis

Paducah International Raceway hosted its last race of the year tonight as competitors vied for the Kentucky State Championship. The man to take home the most brass was Frankie Lee Gillim of Owensboro, KY.

After struggling early in the evening Frankie elected for a gearing change that carried him to wins in four classes. He was perfect on the TT winning three finals with the 85cc class being his best ride. He went to the front at the start and rode smoothly to the win. Jonathan Heiden was atone in second while Michael Heiden held off Jake Lewis at the line for third.

Gillim's other win came in the 200cc Amateur short track final as he completely dominated going on to win by nearly a straightaway. Matt Patterson finished in the runner-up spot.

Frankie Lee looked for a spot to stick a wheel under 200cc Pro-Am leader Hayden Gillim but never made the move stick and finished second by a wheel. Jonathan Heiden was a close third.

Hayden gated perfectly in the 85cc short track and rode a steady line to win by a five bike margin over Frankie Lee and Jonathan. Jake Lewis worked past Michael Heiden late in the race to snare fourth. Lewis came back to sweep the 65cc ranks by dominating the TT and hole-shotting the oval to win by a good measure.

Dylan Douglas had to work past Luke Baird each time out but made the pass stick and rode to victory in the 50cc shaft classes.

Stevie Nace did likewise to record the Mad Dog wins over Dakota Simmons.

Simmons would claim the 250cc Amateur class wins with a good lead over Tracy Gibbs and Trail Rider class winner Kenny Kondoudis.

Aaron Ladd claimed the top spot in both the Open Pro and Pro-Am classes. Ladd hole-shot each race and held on to win by narrow margins after constant pressure from rim riding Jason Goodwin.

Nace ran to third in the Pro-am class with Dean Faulkner taking the spot in the Pro final.

Faulkner would take the win in the Vet class over Dennis Porter.
