Simmons Smokin’ at PIR
By Bobby Lewis

The Kentucky Dirttrack Series resumed tonight in Paducah after a brief break for the Amateur Nationals. Dakota Simmons came ready to rumble and took the 250cc amateur class win in the process. Simmons came from the heat race win ready to pounce at the green light and went to the front of the field in the combined 250/Trailrider main event. Kenny Kondoudis, Brian Neblett and Sean Smith all had a shot at the lead but Simmons held firm under pressure and took a close win over Kondoudis.

Neblett took the Trailrider win in close fashion over Smith and Steve Parrish. Simmons was also a winner in the Mad Dog short track and took a solid second to Chris Fristoe on the TT.

Gene Yopp led every lap of the way en route to the 30+ Vet class win. Byron Ward pushed hard to finish second over Dean Faulkner. Ward changed lines and used them to his advantage to come back and win the Senior class. Yopp was a close second over Dennis Porter, Phil Eilken and David Brown.

Faulkner edged his way around Dave VanAcker and Eilken to take the 70 Singles win. Brad Furlong took the high line to pass early leader Aaron Ladd in the Open Pro-Am final. Ladd kept the pressure on but came up a little short to Furlong at the line. Jason Goodwin was in the hunt to run third.

Dylan Douglas led the 50cc Shaft class every lap of the way on the short track but couldn’t hold off a last corner charge by Nick McFadden. McFadden won by a wheel over Douglas, Luke Baird and Timothy Greif.

McFadden had an easier time on the TT with a convincing win with Baird moving into second over Douglas and Greif. Jake Lewis would lead McFadden and Josh Greif to the flag in the 50cc Chain division and Nathaniel Vowell would follow Lewis home in the 65cc class.

Lewis led the 85cc pack the first lap until Cody Brown took over the lead on the next circuit. Heat race winner Brown never bobbled and took a close win over Lewis. Weston Adams held onto third over David Ragan, Colby Adams and Lowell Kondoudis.

Weston came back to nail the hole shot and take an easy win in the TT over Brown, Colby and Lewis. Nathan Davis would take the 200cc Amateur win as Colby Chandler defeated April Ladd to win the Stock XR100 class.
