West KY Dirttrack Series Ladd Wins a Wild One
Aaron Ladd was the top gun tonight at Paducah International Raceway grabbing wins in both the Pro and Pro-Am finals. Jon Goodwin grabbed the lead in the Pro-Am main but it only stood for a lap until Bill Gruwell brought out the red flag with a hard get-off in turn one.
Goodwin went to the front on the re-start but the red flag would fly again as Jeremy Anderson low-sided in turn three and Jason Schlesinger catapulted over the downed bike. Third time was the charm for Ladd as he led down the back straight and held on to take a close win over Goodwin and Dean Faulkner.
Schlesinger battled with Robbie Grief for a couple of laps before edging away to take the Open Amateur main. Kyle Naliborski rounded out the top three.
Van Rayburn completely dominated the Senior class with runaway wins in both the heat and main. Dennis Porter rode a smooth race en route to second holding off a fast closing Ed Clark. Gene Yopp rode alone into fourth with Dave Brown getting the nod over Phil Eilken for fifth.
Eilken rode the high line and never bobbled holding off Bill Goodwin and Nathan Curnel in the 70 Singles class. Porter topped the Light Vintage class over J. T. Wood.
Jeff Jones took control of the start and gassed It up in taking the Vet Class win. Faulkner stayed within four bike lengths of the leader and had a slight gap on Gruwell, Yopp and Clark who finished in order.
