Hammering The High Bank
By Bobby Lewis

The Kentucky Dirt Track Series returned to PIR and the usual suspects returned to the front.

April Ladd led the way in the stock XR100 class by taking the win over Wendy Maccoll, David Hamm and Alan Asher on the TT. She had a little rougher time in the short track as Andrew Ford repeatedly got a front wheel inside lap after lap. April held firm to win by a wheel over Ford, Skeeter Williams, Alan Asher and David Asher.

Aaron Ladd and Chris Boone took turns leading the Open-Pro final. Ladd was in front after the final paint swap and took his third win of the evening. Jeremy Anderson held off Dean Faulkner for third with Cody Bowland rounding out the top five.

Gene Yopp led the ten-rider Senior main with Skeeter Williams holding onto second. Ed Clark was on a tear and charged from mid pack to close on Yopp. Clark ran out of laps as Yopp took the win. Williams held onto third over Tracy Gibbs, Clyde Modlin and John Gilligan. Bill Zentmyer, Ron Anderson, David Brown and Steve Parrish rounded out the order.

Jacob Morris pulled a clean sweep of the 50cc ranks in both chain and shaft division. Destiny Hamm put in a solid ride in her first race pulling in second over Luke Baird and Gunner Abernathy.

The 85cc class was the largest of the night and was a barn burner. Hayden Gillim worked the middle of the track with Jake Lewis glued to the bottom. They pulled a small gap until Colby Chandler went to the top gaining ground that brought it to the flag. Gillim held on to win by a hair over Lewis and Chandler.

250cc Amateur winner Frankie Lee Gillim was fourth over Trail rider winner Blake Tabor, Nikki Spore, Ethan Gillim Colby Adams, Cody Brown, Nathaniel Vowell and Jake Carnahan.

Chandler’s line paid off as he charged from third to first in both the 200cc Pro-Am and Amateur classes to card the wins.

Lewis was spot on in the TT’s as he carded wins in the 85cc, 200 Amateur, 200cc Pro-Am and both 65 divisions.

Dakota Simmons put in a convincing ride en-route to the win in the 250cc Pro TT. He took the win over Weston Adams and Roger Ford for his third of the night.
