Gruwell Masters Paducah ST

Bill Gruwell was top gun on the high-banked 3/8's mile track in Paducah. Steve Nace prepared a beautiful track tat developed a ten-foot groove that resulted in close racing throughout the night. Gruwell followed Mike Dunaway just one lap before going to the top of the groove for the pass en route to the Vet class win. Dunaway held on for second over Gene Yopp.

Gruwell also had the Open amateur class covered with a light-to-flag run. Jon Goodwin ran a close second over Tyler Porter, Skeeter Williams and Jordan Jendle.

In the Senior class heat winner Scott McLaughlin led the pack with Dennis Porter, Yopp and Bill Zentmyer in hot pursuit. With two laps left, Yopp found a hig line around to narrowly defeat McLaughlin at the line. Porter nipped Zentmyer for third.

Aaron Ladd led the Open Pro-Am's down the back straight with Chase Sconyers looking for an opening. He found it on lap two with an inside pass into turn three. Sconyers never bobbled and held on for the win over Ladd, Goodwin, Jason Schlesinger and Kyle Kelly.

Ladd found himself in front again in the Open Pro final until turn three where Coty Bowland made a bold move for the lead up the inside to take the lead. Bowland's lead lasted a lap before Ladd slipped back underneath to retake the point bring Sconyers and Jason Goodwin with him. Ladd stayed on the bottom of the groove to take a close victory over Sconyers. Bowland wound up third with Kelly fourth. Jason limped home on an ailing bike for fifth.

Ladd also took the TT win with a convincing ride over Sconyers and Tyler Porter.

Hayden Gillim went unbeaten in the 200cc classes. In the Amateur main he held off a late-race charge by Frankie Lee Gillim to take the win. Jeff Carver was third over Matt Patterson.

Hayden had a little tougher time in the Pro-Am main but he emerged from a three-way battle to take the win. Jonathan Heiden was a close second over Patrick Pyle, Frankie Lee and Tyler Whitecotten.

Hayden was back at the front in the 85cc class also, but he had some fast company. Andy Goodwin made the best of it and took a close win over Hayden, Heiden, Frankie Lee and Whitecotten.

Hayden used another strong hole shot to lead the 65cc class and he held it until the white flag lap when Ethan Gillim pinned it into turn three and held on to win by a wheel. Whitecotten was close third over Frankie Lee and Jake Lewis.

Lewis would take the 50cc Chain class holding off a late-race charge by Ian Keith. Ethan was third with Nick McFadden fourth.

Luke Baird was the first to lead the 50cc Shaft field but gave way for Bubba Neeley to lead the first lap. McFadden came to the front a lap later and held on for a photo-finish win over a fast-closing Dylan Douglas. Neeley was third over Austin Hines and Baird.
