MIDWEST INDOOR DIRT TRACK SERIES

Round 9: Southern Illinois State Fairgrounds

Mayers Mop Up In DuQuoin Finale

By: Bobby Lewis

DuQuoin, Il March 25

Dallas and Levi Mayer put in dominating performances tonight at the final indoor round for the season in DuQuoin. Dallas was in complete control of the Vet and Senior short tracks winning both the heats and mains in each. He used strong hole shots to lead Charles Southgate home in the Vet class. Mike Mayer was third as he edged out Kenny Reed, David Allen and Marc Boyd. Dallas' toughest win came in the Open Pro-Am TT as he gated well and never bobbled in taking the win despite the constant pressure from Jeff Carver and Chris Boone. Stevie Nace would ride to fourth with Curt Comer rounding out the top five. Levi rode strong all night and was never topped in the 85cc classes. He went to the front on the short track and led Hayden Granda and Robbie Treinen to the checkers. Evan Fields was next in line over Brett Neville, Molly Terry, Jeff Lowery, Dallas Boyd, Logan Demaa and Robby Hill. Levi was just as convincing in the 200cc Pro-Am classes as he carded wins in both the short track and TT also. Molly Terry returned to sweep the 65cc classes while Granda scored his first win of the series on the 200cc Amateur short track. Aaron Ladd turned in a good performance by topping the Open Pro, Open Pro-Am and Mad dog classes. Each of the Open class mains produced riders from six different states with Oklahoma's Jeff Bostic putting the most heat on Ladd to run a solid second in the Pro final. Chris Boone would edge out John Faulkner for third with Ohioan Tyler Shepherd filling out the top five. Joel Brown would end up sixth leading a freight train of Michael Carlton, Kyle Snyder and Larry Davis. The Open Amateur main found William Emmendorfer taking the win back to Michigan with a narrow margin over Jonathan Heiden. Colby Chandler held off Jeff Carver for third with Adam Cobb coming from the back row to nail down fifth. Michael Carlton was next over Stevie Nace, Dalton Boyd, Dustin Sievers, Patrick Pyle, Danny Didiuk and Marc Boyd. Chandler, Carver and Cobb picked their battle back up in the 240 short track with Chandler getting the close win. Chandler found the winners circle in the Open Amateur TT also while Cobb nailed the 250's.
