Lewis - Goodwin Close It Out
By Bobby Lewis

The Kentucky Dirt Track Series ended the outdoor season tonight in Marion, KY with Jake Lewis and Jason Goodwin taking the biggest share of wins. Lewis started the night off with runaway wins in the 65cc class on both the short track and TT. Nathaniel Vowell made late race passes in each event on Blake Tabor to run second.

Lewis hole-shot the 85cc short track and slipped away leaving Nikki Spore to hold off Frankie Lee Gillim for the second spot. Cody Brown was also in the hunt and would end up fourth.

Lewis' final win came in the 85cc TT where another hole-shot led to a safe win. Gillim kept him honest in second while Spore held off Brown for third.

Goodwin sat on the pole for the Pro-Am final but it was Billy Gruwell that led the 11 rider field at the end of a lap. Gruwell was glued to the bottom of the track while Goodwin worked the top. Goodwin's line paid off as he took the lead and a narrow win over Gruwell. Jeremy Anderson held on to third after a race long battle with Aaron Ladd. Scott Huff topped the conga line for fifth over Kevin Snyder, Andy Goodwin, Tony Graham and Stevie Nace.

Ladd led the Pro Class with Coty Bowland, Goodwin and the rest of the field giving chase. Goodwin made a quick pass to second and started to work on Ladd. At the halfway flags an aggressive move up the inside paid off as the took the lead.

Goodwin stretched a lead en-route to the win with Ladd a safe second. Bowland narrowly held for third over Jon Goodwin, Huff, Dean Faulkner, Kyle Naliborski and Nace.

Faulkner emerged the leader of a first turn shuffle in the Vet class and ran a perfect race to hold off Gruwell for the win. Gene Yopp jammed his way in the heat and main in the Senior class over a fast closing Clark. Dennis Porter held onto third over David Brown, John Gilligan and Don Duncan.

Michael Stalvey followed Porter for three laps before taking over the lead to win the Light Vintage final over Porter and Gilligan. Stalvey put in another strong ride on the air cooled Kawasaki to take top honors in the 250 Amateur short track over Erhardt Heisner, John Lampkin and Chaz Landers.

Tony Graham would take an easy win over Lampkin and Stalvey in the TT.

Kyle Snyder looked impressive and was never seriously challenged on his way to the 200cc Amateur short track win. Patrick Pyle held off a serious charge from Heisner to take a close second. Gillim was the next rider in order over Andrew Fannin and James Stratman.

Pyle would earn the win in the 200cc Pro-Am T.T. over Dakota Simmons and Gillim. Gillim took the Amateur TT win over Stratman.

Jacob Morris held off Nick McFadden to win the 50cc chain divisions but McFadden was not to be denied as he swept the shaft classes. He held off repeated challenges from Morris and Travis Zapfe to take the short track win. Zapfe was the runner up at the flag over Morris. Luke Baird, Austin Zentmeyer and Vance Adamson.

Morris would come out on top of Zapfe to run second on the TT with Baird fourth over Adamson.
