Kentucky Dirt Track Series The Fat Lady Sings The Kentucky dirt track outdoor series ran its final race of the year tonight in Marion. A good rider count was on hand and the Open class provided some of the best action of the year.
Aaron Ladd went to the front of the Open Pro-Am class with Kevin Snyder and Jason Goodwin looking for an opening. Ladd was running a perfect race while Goodwin went higher and higher on the track. Goodwin's wild line finally pulled through as he took the lead and carried it to the win over Ladd and Snyder. Jeremy Anderson slid into fourth with Koji Furuhashi rounding out the top five. Ladd and Goodwin hooked up again in the Open Pro final with Ladd at the front again. Ladd kept his cool and took the close win over Goodwin whileVet winner Bill Gruwell held off Snyder for third. Dean Faulkner, Mad Dog winner Stevie Nace, Furuhashi and Anderson rounded out the field. Jacob Morris was perfect on the 50cc bikes. He had a close battle with Luke Baird in the shaft class to score the wins. Destiny Ham was a solid third. |
In the chain class Morris held back TT winner Nick McFadden to take another close win with Baird in third. Hayden Gillim swept the 200cc Amateur classes and did likewise in the 85cc ranks. Gillim hole-shot both features and slipped away to the wins. Jake Lewis was second each time over Open Amateur winner Nathaniel Vowell. Nikki Spore and Ethan Gillim traded spots for the fourth and fifth spot. The 200cc Pro-Am short track found Lewis, Hayden, Spore and James Finnell hitting the dirt in turn one bringing out the red flag. Kyle Snyder took control on the restart and checked out en route to the win. Hayden put in a blistering charge as he worked from the penalty line to earn a hard second. Frankie Lee Gillim held off Vowell, Lewis, Spore and Finnell for third. Lewis nailed the TT start and never bobbled taking the win. Vowell, Snyder and Hayden argued over second with Vowell holding the spot at the flags as Hayden moved from the penalty line to snag third at the line over Snyder. Spore held off Finnell to card fifth. John Lampkin overcame a hard fall earlier in the night to score the 250cc Amateur win as Tyler Porter got the nod in the 240 Pro class after a race long skirmish with Dakota Simmons. |
