Chandler's Charge
By Bobby Lewis

Colby Chandler was on the gas tonight as he took multiple class wins aboard his David Drug Store Honda. He hole-shot the 85cc short track final and stayed on the groove to hold off a determined Jonathan Heiden for the win. Nikki Spore led a pack of riders for third consisting of Michael Heiden, Nathaniel Vowell, Jake Lewis and Blake Tabor.

Chandler did an instant replay in the TT and split from the field leaving Vowell to hold off Lewis and Tabor for the runner-up position. Chandler’s third win came in the 200cc Pro-Am short track final where he took a hard earned win over Jonathan once again.

Lewis would sweep the 65cc ranks and come back to do likewise in the 200cc Amateur classes holding off Chandler and Vowell for the wins.

Jonathan found the much needed hole-shot to turn the win in the 200cc Pro-Am TT as did Vowell in the trail rider class.

Aaron Ladd trounced on the Open Pro and Pro-Am classes with wins each time out and his father Mike Ladd left the Senior riders to argue over second.

Gene Yopp eventually nabbed the spot over Dennis Porter while Bill Zentmyer held onto fourth over Ed Clark, TT winner, Curt Corner, Clyde Modlin and Don Duncan.

Dean Faulkner took the 70 singles win and uncorked a flyer of a lap with two to go to move from fourth to the lead and win in the Vet short track.

Jacob Morris had to earn his wins in the 50cc chain class by holding off a race long charge from Nick McFadden each time out. Morris held his ground to win both the short track and the TT. Morris would also card the victory in the shaft TT.

The most exciting race of the night saw Luke Baird in the front of the shaft short track with McFadden trying to nose underneath and Morris working the high line. Baird left a little bit off turn four three abreast.

Stevie Nace and Justin Hanna turned in perfect rides as they won both times out in the Mad Dog and 250cc Pro classes respectively.
