A Night At The Fair
By Bobby Lewis

The fair circuit portion of the KY dirt track series wrapped up tonight in Madisonville on a bigger than average track. The 200cc classes fielded the biggest rider count and Hayden Gillim, Colby Chandler and Jake Lewis provided the fireworks to the backdrop of the Midway Carnival.

After topping the Open Amateur mains, Gillim pulled the hole shot in the 200 Amateur short track and never bobbled leading a train to the win over Lewis, Chandler and Nathaniel Vowell.

The TT found Lewis up front as he led Gillim, Chandler and Vowell to the flag.

The 200 Pro-Am classes track saw Lewis nail hole-shots each time to record the wins. Gillim was a close second over Chandler and Vowell while Ethan Gillim moved up to round out the top five over Michael Heiden and Nikki Spore on the short track.

Gillim had to work past Chandler to finish second in the TT while Mad Dog winner Stevie Nace slip his way to fourth past Vowell, Spore and Heiden.

Lewis snagged both 85cc starts also and turned them into wins on the short track. Chandler could stick a wheel under but had to settle for second holding off Hayden for the spot. Spore improved her position by moving to fourth over Ethan, Vowell and Cody Brown.

Hayden moved to second on the TT with Chandler, Spore, Vowell, Ethan and Brown in order.

National champ Ethan Gilli led the way to the checkers in the 65cc pack holding off Lewis for the win in each. Evan Fields was the third each time over Nick McFadden.

Jacob Morris had his game face on as he swept the 50cc classes every time out. Morris ran away in the shaft class leaving Luke Baird, Brenden Luckett and Gunner Abernathy to battle it out.

Morris held off McFadden and Baird to win the chain division.

Gene Yopp battled briefly with Jeff Spore before slipping away to win the Senior TT over Spore and David Brown.

Yopp was the victor on the short track as well as Marty Allison kept him honest by sliding his vintage Yamaha to second. Brown led Spore and Steve Parrish for third.

The Ladd’s, April and Aaron were perfect in their classes as Aaron took wins in the Open Pro and Pro-Am classes while April controlled the Stock XR-100’s. Kelly Bell held onto second in the 100cc class over Alan and David Asher.
