Landers Lowers The Boom

Chaz Landers used a variety of machinery to take three wins on the slippery DuQuoin indoor short track tonight. Colby Chandler led the 450 Amateurs through turn one and stuck to the bottom of the track as did the majority of the field. Landers was using a slightly higher line and took the lead on lap three where he then set sail to take the runaway win. Chandler never bobbled to earn a close second over Jeff Carver and William Cato. Nathaniel Vowell filled out the top five over Dustin Sievers, Levi Mayer and Michael Heiden. Chandler looked strong again as he took the point of the Open Amateur final. Landers was on the move and settled into second when the red flag came out for a downed rider. Chandler gated poorly on the single file restart and Landers took the lead and cruised in for the win. Chandler settled for another second but did return to win the 450cc TT. Dallas Mayer held off Carver for third with Adam Cobb and Levi Mayer next. Marc Boyd came from the back of the grid to seventh over Cato, Jonathan Heiden, Sievers and Nikki Spore. Landers final victory came in the Open Pro-Am class where he took the lead with an outside pass of early leader Jason Goodwin. Landers sped away for yet another win while Goodwin had his hands full but never made a mistake in holding off Carver and Jeff Bostic for second. Kyle Snyder was next over Cato, Justin Hanna, Chandler, Vowell, the Heiden's and Dallas Mayer. Charles Southgate topped the Vintage class along with the Vet class on a truly vintage BSA single that he rode on rails and was able to pass on the low or high lines. Adam Cobb swept the 240 classes with strong wins in both the short track and TT along with the Open Amateur TT. Ethan Gillim topped the 65cc classes with close wins over Nick McFadden and Travis Zapfe. Gillim split class wins in the 200cc Pro-Am classes with Jake Lewis and was a close second as they hooked up again in the 85cc division with Lewis getting the nod. Bill Gruwell got the start he was looking for and help up well from the constant pressure from Jeff Bostic to earn the Open Pro win. Justin Hanna was a close third over Snyder, Dean Faulkner and John Faulkner.
