Gunslinging in Greenville
By Bobby Lewis

The Steve Nace Racing program rolled into Greenville tonight to run the short track and TT programs on the quarter mile banked stock car track. An extremely rough front straight caused several problems in practice and the heats but provided for a racy surface in time for the main events.

Aaron Ladd and Kevin Snyder took turns at the front of both the Open Pro and Pro-Am short tracks. They battled back and forth with Ladd coming out of the heat to narrowly win each over Snyder. John Faulkner was a close third in each while Justin Hanna held off Kevin Vance and Bill Gruwell at the line for fourth.

Hanna rebounded to easily top the TT while Ladd held off a late race charge by 250cc TT winner Jeff Carver to earn second. Vance would rail to fourth and Stevie Nace filled the top five.

Hanna would return to dominate the Open Amateur main while Chandler did likewise to the 250’s.

Vance controlled the 250cc short track by winning both the heat and main but had his hands full as Carver hounded him to second. Colby Chandler was a tight third over Anthony Peacock, Mike Mayer, Jonathan Heiden, Dakota Simmons and Mitchell Rabe.

Ian Keith had the track dialed as he took wins in both the 65cc and 85cc short tracks. Keith held off Jake Lewis for the close victory in the 65cc ranks with Evan Fields moving into third over Kole King, Molly Terry, Allyx Camp and Robert Hall.

Keith led the 85cc pack also and rode to a comfortable win. Lewis worked into second and held off Jacob Hollenback at the line for second while Adam Camp nipped King for fourth.

Hollenback put a last lap pass on Logan Vanskike to win the 160cc class as did Molly Terry in the 50cc chain class. Thomas Goodnick was a close second.

Robert Hall followed Goodnick in the TT.
