Carver and Morris Slam Greenville
By Bobby Lewis

Jeff Carver and Jacob Morris came ready to rumble today at Round 3 of the KY Dirt Track Series.

Morris started the show with a sweep of the shaft drive events with wins on the short track and TT. Nick McFadden chased him for a close second place each time with Ethan Gillim making a welcome return from injury in the hunt for third on the oval over Luke Baird and Kayla Hamilton. Baird would snare third on the TT by slipping past Gillim and Hamilton.

Morris continued on in the 50cc chain class by turning a hole-shot into a win on the short track but could not move past McFadden on the TT and settled for second over Bailey Edsall and Baird.

Carver entered a multitude of classes and was just as dominant, In the 85cc short track he went to the front and left everyone to race for second. Hayden Gillim held firm in the spot to nip Michael Johnson and Jake Lewis. Frankie Lee Gillim held off Nick Page, Colby Chandler and Nikki Spore for fifth.

Carver also led the TT with Johnson waiting for a mistake that never happened as Carver took a close win. Hayden held off Page and Lewis at the line while Ryan Hamilton took the sixth spot from Nathaniel Vowell and Garrett Ryder.

Carver then steam rolled the 200cc short tracks with a wire to wire run in the Amateur ranks and a last lap pass on leader Erhardt Heisner In the Pro-Am division. Hayden tried to reel him in on the TT but came up short as Carver notched another class over Hayden, Johnson, Page and Frankie Lee Gillim.

Johnson finally got the needed start to be the only rider to top Carver as he narrowly won the 200 Pro-Am TT.

Lewis hole-shot both short track and TT mains in the 65cc ranks and rode away to the wins. A real battle ensued for second in both between Andrew Johnson, Ethan Gillim and Blake Tabor with Gillim grabbing the short track spot and Johnson the TT.

Pete Sheppard mounted new tires and found results by doubling up with wins in the Vet and Open Amateur classes. Rod Hartzel followed him home for second in the Vet class but returned to zap the Senior field with ease while Gene Yopp held on for second over Super Senior winner Ron Anderson, Vintage winner John Lewis and Dennis Porter.

Hartzel was also up front when it counted as he nailed the hole-shot and rode to the win in the Open Pro class keeping his record there perfect. Aaron Ladd railed past Billy Gruwell to nab second while Gruwell held off Coy Matthews for third. John Faulkner worked in to fill the top five spot over Brian Thomas and Dean Faulkner.

Levi Courtney put in solid rides to record wins in four classes on the night with his best coming in the 10-rider Trail Rider short track.
