KY Dirt Track Series Furlong, Goodwin Dice It Up Brad Furlong and Jason Goodwin put on an excellent display of cushion riding as Kentucky’s first half mile of the season came to Mayfield.
Furlong controlled the heat races and put his Honda in the front of the Pro-Am main. Goodwin rode in the blast looking for an opening, but Furlong rode a perfect race and carded the win. Kent Briggs and Aaron Ladd argued over third with Briggs nailing down the spot late in the race. Jon Goodwin came through the twelve man field for fifth over 250cc Pro winner Justin Hanna, Andy Goodwin, Jeremy Anderson and Cody Bowland.
The Open Pro main saw Goodwin and furlong split from the pack once again with Goodwin at the front this time around. Goodwin never bobbled and kept Furlong in check to take the win. Briggs once again held onto third over Ladd and Jon Goodwin. Anderson was the next to cross the finish in a tight pack with Light Vintage winner Dean Faulkner, Kyle Naliborski, Bowland and Randy Thistle.

Frankie Lee Gillim showed excellent form on his way to wins in the 85cc, 200cc and 200cc Pro-Am mains. Colby Chandler nailed the hole shots in each event but could not hold back the hard charging Gillim as he came from the pack through the field to score the wins. Jonathan Heiden would hold down the third spot in the Pro-Am class over Jake Lewis, Patrick Pyle, Nathaniel Vowell and Nikki Spore. Ethan Gillim was equally as dominant as he took the 50cc chain division over Jacob Morris and 50 shaft winner Luke Baird. Ethan took the lead in the 65cc division also never looking back to take the class win over Frankie Lee, Lewis and Evan Fields. Tracy Gibbs took the win in the Trail rider class over Vowell and Blake Tabor but could not quite catch Patrick Ferrell’s Yamaha in the 250cc Amateur class. Promoter Steve Nace had the race track in perfect form and used the hay bale line to score come from behind wins in the 70 Singles and Senior classes. |
