Gillim’s Getaway
By Bobby Lewis

The Gillim brothers showed up in Bardwell tonight and commenced taking the majority of the wins back to Owensboro.

Hayden Gillim was the top winner as he hole shot the 65cc short track and TT and ran away for big wins. Ethan Gillim followed him across in the short track with Evan Fields doing the chasing on the TT.

Hayden led the 85cc class in each also but had his hands full with Colby Chandler and Brother Frankie Lee Gillim. Hayden never bobbled and the top three were set. Nathaniel Vowell was fourth each time ahead of Blake Tabor, Ethan and Tommy Haley.

The 200cc Amateur portion was almost an instant replay with Hayden topping each. Frankie Lee turned in the ride of the night with an outside power-on ride into the cushion to go from fourth to first in the 200 Pro-Am short track. He then stuck it on the groove taking the win over Patrick Pyle, Chandler and Hayden..

In the Pro-am TT Chandler landed the hole shot and slid away to the win over Dakota Simmons, Pyle, Hayden and Frankie Lee.

Ethan’s win came in the 50cc chain short track as he reeled in early leader Jacob Morris and rode on the flag. Morris held on to second over Dylan Douglas and Luke Baird.

Morris would come back to win the chain TT and 50 shaft short track but could not quite catch Baird on the shaft TT.

Dean Faulkner was impressive with wins in the 70 singles over Nathan Curnel, Lee Boone and Steve England. He also trumped Gene Yopp and Dennis Porter in the Vet division.

Faulkner gated well in the Open Pro class but could not catch disappearing Aaron Ladd. Cody Bowland would hold off Mike Dunaway for third.

Ladd split once again in the Pro--am class leaving Yopp to hold off Stevie Nace, Bowland and Porter for second.

Nace swept the 250cc Pro classes and Maddog TT before Simmons got it together to take the short track.

April Ladd continues to dominate the stock XRI 00 class with wins each time out. Kelly Bell was a close second over Alan Asher and Cody Talley.
