Baird Bags Bardwell
By Bobby Lewis

Luke Baird gassed it up tonight and took home the win in the 50cc shaft divisions. Baird turned solid hole-shots into wins each time out to lead Jacob Morris to the flag by a wheel. Hunter Abernathy was third each time.

Morris was not to be denied in the chain drive short track and took the win over Nick McFadden and Baird.

Morris led the TT until he slid down bringing out the red flag. McFadden led the restart and held on for the win over Baird and Morris.

Aaron Ladd nailed the starts and split from the Open Pro and Pro-Am fields. Bill Gruwell’s cushion line carried him to second past third place finisher Chris Fristoe each time.

Jordan Jenkle rounded out the Pro class and followed fourth place finisher Gene Yopp in the Pro-Am ranks.

Ladd returned to win the TT final also.

Yopp led the Senior class start but Mike Ladd went to the front on lap two. Yopp stalked Ladd waiting for a mistake that came on lap four when he went to the front once again. Yopp planted himself on the groove to take the win over Ladd, Mike Anderson, Vintage winner Marty Allison and David Brown.

Justin Jenkle nailed the start of 85cc short track and held off Jake Lewis to take the win. Nikki Spore held off a line of riders for third consisting of Colby Chandler, Nathaniel Vowell and Cody Brown.

Lewis went to the front of the TT and left Chandler to hold off Spore and Vowell for the runner-up spot.

Lewis swept both the 200 Amateur and 200 Pro-Am ranks by nailing hole-shots and running from the field. Erhardt Heisner claimed the second spot on the oval by holding off the repeated challenge of Justin. Patrick Pyle clung to fourth by holding off Chandler, Spore and Vowell.

Justin rode alone to second on the TT while Spore held off Pyle for third. Mad Dog winner Dakota Simmons worked from the back row to run fifth past Heisner, Chandler, Vowell and James Finnell.

Vowell rebounded to take strong wins in the Trailrider classes.

Lewis’ final wins came in a sweep of the 65cc class. McFadden took the runner-up spot on the short track over Evan Fields while Fields took the spot on the TT. Brett Neville and Brooke Kemp filled in the top five each time.

Stevie Nace would top the stock XR100’s in each event with April Ladd keeping pace in second. Alan Asher ran to third on the short track past Kelly Bell, Wendy Maccoll, David Asher and Cody Talley.

Maccoll would finish third on the TT after passing Ethan Kemp and Talley.
